Did you know that our dogs like vegetables and fruits almost as much as we do? Some are better than others for Fido and here's 10 that will be beneficial as well as tasty. Most of these we have on hand so why not include them in your pet's diet as well? Let's take a look at the fruits first.
Food for Dogs

1-Watermelon :
Lycopene is a great anti-oxidant and we tend to get a lot of it from tomatoes. Instead of giving your dog tomatoes and ketchup, watermelon would be the best source for lycopene for dogs. There's more though, a nice chunk of this will give your dog a good shot of vitamin A, B-6, C as well as thiamin. Let 'em eat the seeds too.
2-Blueberries :
Extremely beneficial for the dog. Mine eats them right off the bush. With it's anti-cancer and heart disease fighting capabilities along with it's high levels of resveratrol, it's great for your dog's diet. Plus the tannins help prevent urinary tract infections.

3-Apples :
Powerful anti-oxidants and a ton of vitamin C will be great for the dog's diet. Plus it's a lot of fun watching a dog eat an apple.
4-Cantaloupe :
Great for your dog's eyesight. Full of vitamin A and beta carotene to fight the risk of cancer and prevent cell damage. Also loaded with vitamins B-6 and C, fiber, folate, niacin and potassium. Speaking of potassium, my dogs love bananas too.
Now for the veggies;

5-Green Beans :
Great for the dog because of their omega-3 fatty acids along with vitamin A, C and K. Great source of calcium, copper, fiber, folic acid, iron, niacin, manganese, potassium, riboflavin, thiamin as well as beta carotene. These should be #1 on your list for Fido and you'll probably have a harder time getting your kids to eat them than your pooch.
6-Spinach :
"Strong to the finish, 'cause I eats me Spinach" _ Popeye, the Sailor Man. Well, not only is it great for us but just as good for your dog. Twice as high in iron than most other sources, it's good for Fido to help fend off inflammatory and cardiovascular issues. A good cancer fighter too.

  1. We typically obtain a large amount of lycopene from tomatoes, which is a fantastic antioxidant. The best source of lycopene for dogs would be watermelon as opposed to offering your dog tomatoes and ketchup. But there's more; a sizable portion of this will provide your dog with a healthy dose of thiamin, vitamin B-6, and vitamins A, B-6, and C. Let them consume the seeds as well. 2. Yes, dogs Can dogs eat watermelon in moderation. Watermelon is safe for dogs and can be a healthy and refreshing treat for them in the summer months. However, it's important to note that you should remove the seeds and rind before giving it to your dog, as they can be difficult for your dog to digest and may cause digestive issues.
