When adopting dogs Other animals

The words "dog adoption" immediately conjure up images of people looking through the bars of a cage in an animal shelter and find a dog soul mate who can not wait at home. This is a act of love and devotion that makes life better for everyone.

But there is another, very different type of dog adoption, which can also be characterized as an act of love and devotion when dogs take other animals. This "adoption" between species is the maternal instinct has led to a higher level.

The adoption of a species

The concept of altruism in animals has been discussed and theorized by biologists and experts in animal behavior for some time. For us humans, especially dog lovers among us, one of the most poignant examples of this behavior is when a dog adopts newborn nursing other species.

One of the reasons we love dogs so much is because they are so generous with their love. This is why the stories of young people who adopt dogs from other species (if oddly individual can be sometimes) do not seem to us impossible. Love and care is, after all, two of the things that dogs do best.

Here are some of our best examples of dog adoption among species:

Dogs + wolf cubs. Since dogs and wolves are canine cousins, this combination does not seem to raise an eyebrow. However, when you hear stories of dogs raising cubs in zoos and conservation centers, the heart is both mother and child. The Cubs have thin models in their foster homes for dogs.

Dogs + kittens. Those of us who have dogs and cats in our homes experiencing cliché stories cartoon-part-of these two species are capable of forming strong bonds. No wonder, then, find stories (and videos) cute kittens nursing mother dogs. However, this takes on a new dimension when the kitten is not a domestic cat, but a panther or tiger. Maternal love stories like these have been reported as far away as China, England, and Kansas.

Dogs + other non-canine mammals. This broad category includes dogs that have adopted the pigs, deer, squirrels and monkeys. Granted, all of these adoptions involved nursing, but in many cases, the dog "father" became an adult leader and replace with "superior" support for a very different member of a very young.

Dogs + birds. Birds of a feather may assemble, but what happens when a girl comes out of its shell and the first thing you see is the dog pen? Instant connection. Biologists call "footprint" and can make a very strong link between the chicken, duck or goose and featherless Father Figure ovens. So do not be surprised if you see swollen and happy chickens do their best to deal with a dog walking in a park. Also, do not be surprised if you see that the dog takes his job very seriously parenting, keeping an eye to protect the chicks chirping in your care.
